Welcome back! I hope everyone is doing well. If you’re new to makeup and feeling confused, this blog is for you. I am going to give you a little refresh on all the basics.

Makeup has a power to transform your look, it enhances your features and helps boost confidence.
Clean your face to remove oil, bacteria, and dirt using a gentle cleanser. Then use a toner to tighten pores and maintain a healthy pH balance. Don’t forget to moisturise and apply lip balm to prevent chapped lips.
Primer
Using primer is crucial for making sure your makeup stays on all day and for creating a smooth base for the face. It’s important to pick a primer that suits your skin type – if you have oily skin, go for an oil-free primer, and if your skin is dry, choose a hydrating primer.

Color Corrector
A color corrector is a type of makeup product that helps to neutralize and balance out skin discoloration. It can be used to counteract redness, sallowness, or other uneven skin tones. Color correctors come in various shades to target specific problem areas, such as green for redness, peach for dark circles, and purple for dullness. Applying color corrector before foundation can help create a more even complexion.
Color correctors are used to neutralize specific skin concerns:
- Orange corrector: Use this to conceal dark circles.
- Green corrector: Apply this to counteract redness caused by pimples.
- Yellow corrector: Use this to brighten and illuminate particular areas of your face.

Foundation
Foundation is a crucial step in your makeup routine. It should match your skin tone perfectly. Apply it in small dots and blend it with a beauty blender to avoid a cakey appearance.
Concealer
Choose two shades for your skin: one that matches your skin tone exactly, and another two shades lighter. Use the lighter shade to highlight areas like the center of your nose and under your eyes. Remember, concealer is not the same as foundation, so don’t apply it all over your face. Use a small beauty blender to blend it, and remember that there are two types of concealers: liquid and stick.
Setting Powder
After concealing, use setting powder to lock in the look on the concealed areas. You can use compact powder as well for a smooth finish.
Contour
Contouring is an important step that defines your features and gives a natural sun-kissed look all year round. It creates shadows when applied to the forehead, cheekbones, jawline, and nose bridge and sides. If you’re new to contouring, start with powder contour.

- Blush: Add color to your cheeks for a fresh and beautiful look.
- Highlight: Define the high points of your face, like the center of your nose and the top of your lips, to add a luminous touch.
- Eyebrow: Set your eyebrows using a spool, comb them, and fill in the color.
- Eye Makeup: Use eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara to define your look. Invest in good mascara for a false eyelash effect and to make your eyes look bigger.
- Lips: Use a good lip liner to define your lips and apply lipstick for a stunning finish.
- Finally, set your makeup with a makeup fixer. Spray it on your face to seal the makeup for a long-lasting effect.
